The satellite ortho model reflects the physical reality of the complete viewing geometry and reflects all the distortions generated during the image formation:
Enter the GCP coordinate system (i.e. UTM 11 S E000), then collect a series of GCPs. When GCPs are collected, the X, Y and elevation values of the georeferenced coordinates must also be collected. The GCPs should be uniformly distributed over the image, and the coverage should include the borders of the image. GCPs with different elevations should also be collected. This type of distribution will ensure that the model uses interpolation instead of extrapolation for the whole image.
Review the RMS errors. The displayed errors will be based on the actual satellite ortho model. Modify or remove any GCPs with large errors.
Save the GCPs in the raw image file, and exit GCPWorks.
From Xpace or EASI, run the SMODEL PACE program to calculate the satellite ortho model.
Run SORTHO to orthorectify the raw image using the satellite ortho model.
